Maton Hospital

This is the bench where Maton guitars are corrected or repaired.  Warranty work takes priority, but plenty of owners also send their guitars here for setting-up and repairs - me included.

Our tour guide regaled a lovely story about the 'half guitar' on the left'.  The guitar belonged to iconic Oz singer, song writer and Indigenous elder, Archie Roach.  An airline did a job on the instrument rendering it unrepairable.  Mr Roach was very attached to the guitar as it was one he was using at the time his wife of many years, Ruby Hunter, had passed away.  The Maton 'magicians' in the repair shop did their work and managed to salvage the neck - so they built a new body for Mr Roach.  It remains the guitar he uses to this day.

It would seem anything is possible with these people!

  1. Love the Archie Roach story. Had the pleasure of seeing him live in Melbourne when we were there in January 2017. Amazing bloke.
